Why Is It So Hard To Take A Decent Picture Around Here?

I'll give you one guess.

a lot of our days

My poor, sweet baby had a fever of 103 last night and today he woke up looking like this:

Pretty sure he has Roseola. Kensley had it right before she turned two. Same symptoms. High fever and then a rash. His is mainly on his face, neck and ears right now. His temp is also down to 99.4 so pretty sure that is what it is.

My poor, sweet baby boy. Lots of hugs, kisses and cuddles from mama today.

60 Minutes

I don't know if you are a fan of "Grey's Anatomy", but I am. I sort of got sucked into it because I have a husband who is addicted to medical shows. You would think coming from a guy who spends 12 hours a day in an ER the last thing he would want to do is watch shows that pertain to his profession. I guess if I was a lawyer I might like lawyer shows but really I much rather rest my mind after a long day and watch something mindless like "The Jersey Shore".

Either way, we started watching "Grey's Anatomy" from the very first episode on and I have been completely sucked in. I have shed countless tears over that show. People. I cry at Sylvan Learning commercials. To say that "Grey's" makes me cry is really not that much of a revelation. I mean I love everything about the show. I love the characters, the story lines, McDreamy and McSteamy. The thing I love most about that show though is that Dave and I always have the best talks after it is over.

This weeks episode talked about how in just one hour how much your life can change. I mean when you think about it, an hour isn't a whole lot of time. You can maybe run a few errands, do a load of clothes or in my dream world take a quick nap. An hour is not a huge amount of time. But I know from experience how much your life can change in those 60 minutes.

I remember the moment I found out my uncle passed away. I was having lunch with my grandma and my grandpa walked into the restaurant we were in and told us. BAM. Just like that. I was twelve years old at the time and in complete shock. On the car ride home I kept closing my eyes and wishing I could go back just 6o minutes to when life was better. When life was easier. Before I felt the worst pain in my chest that stayed there for months...years. Back when I could call him and tell him to stay home that morning. How everything could have been different.

I remember the moment my daughter was born. When they pulled her from me and lifted her up and over the sheet so I could lay eyes on her for the first time. My world flipped upside down. They had just ripped my heart from my body and there it was over in the corner of the room wrapped up in a blanket and crying softly. Just 60 minutes ago I had no clue what I was in for. Every mother on earth can tell you what they experienced but until it is your experience you will never understand. Never know the feeling of that amount of love.

The episode this week had a man coming in for chest pains. 60 minutes later he had passed away. That quickly. It can all end that quickly. What a not so gentle reminder of that is how fast our lives can change.

When Dave and curled up in bed I hugged him a little tighter. I rested my head on his shoulder and told him how much I loved him. How blessed I am to have had as many hours, minutes, seconds with him as I have. Blessed that our children are happy and healthy. When it really comes down to it that is all that matters to me.

We always joke around about how wonderful it would be to win the lottery. I am sure it would be.

Last night we realized once again that we really already have.

Pull-Apart Bacon Bread

I found this recipe on Noble Pig's website. I was looking for something to take to my grandparent's house for Super Bowl Sunday and came across this. It sounded different than anything I had ever tried before and I had most of the ingredients on hand so I whipped it up. It was a HUGE hit!

Pull-Apart Bacon Bread
1 lb. (16 ounces) bacon, fried and crumbled
1 teaspoon oil
(I used extra-virgin olive oil)3/4 cup chopped pepper (I used a mix of red and green bell pepper)3/4 cup onion, chopped (I used yellow)3 tubes biscuits (I used Pillsbury Grands Flaky Layers 16 ounces each)1/2 cup margarine, melted (I used butter)1/2 cup shredded cheese (I used cheddar)
In oil sauté peppers and onion until tender.  Cut biscuits into quarters and place in large mixing bowl.  Add peppers-onion mixture, bacon, margarine and cheese, tossing until well combined.  Pour into lightly greased 10" bundt pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

This recipe made a TON. I probably could have cut it in half and still had plenty for everyone. Definitely unique and yummy!

Iced In!

I took this picture back on February 1st when we had that huge ice storm. Dave went to chip the ice off his windshield so that he could go to work and this was a chunk he managed to get off. Nuts!

How many more days till spring?!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope all you LOVERS had a great day! I just LOVE the word LOVERS don't you? I can't help but laugh when I say it!

Anyway, I worked today so Dave and I celebrated our night out on Sunday.

This is my amazing self-photography skills. The best pic I got of the two of us from that night. Dave had to work that evening so we just went to dinner at our favorite restaurant. I even got a single red rose! (That Kensley quickly stole from me upon returning home and then forced us all to sniff for the next hour). Thank you Grandma Patti for babysitting!

Since I worked today, Dave ended up taking the kiddies to playgroup. They had a valentine exchange at Chick-fil-a. I'm a little sad I missed out on it. Chick-fil-a is my favorite! Dave told me Kensley had a blast and I'm sure she did since there was lots of C-A-N-D-Y involved.

I think Valentine's Day is a fun day to remind you of how lucky you are to have someone you love in your life. I am so lucky to have a husband who treats me like every day is Valentine's Day. He wakes up and lets me sleep in while he takes care of the kids, he helps out around the house and it's the little things he does to let me know he cares. It's been almost 9 years and he hasn't run away screaming yet! I am blessed!

Happy Birthday GiGi!

Sunday was GiGi's Birthday!

Rowan was super happy to get to go see her.

We baked her some birthday cookies (funfetti cake cookies) and spent the day with Grandma and Papa too.

Any day spent at Grandma and Papa's is a good day. Kensley ate her weight in candy, built a snowman and had fun wrestling with Papa.

Being so spoiled is exhausting!

Happy Birthday GiGi! We love you!
