I have to apologize about the lack of updates this week. Kensley and I have both come down with the sickies. She woke up this morning with a 101.4 temp and I have just not felt human in a few days. Thankfully Daddy has been off the past few days to take care of us. We took Kensley to the doctor and there is no sign of an ear infection and she is breathing fine, so the doctor just thinks its a cold. So we have been giving her motrin and lots of fluids and her and I have been laying on the couch all day watching Shrek and Nemo.

(Sorry I look like death in the next picture, but as you can see we both feel and look pretty awful) Ha!

Here is our little princess eating princess shaped pasta! Poor thing still has an appetite thank goodness!

This weekend I finally got my hair done. She went super blonde, but in the back of my mind I sort of want to go dark again. I can never decide and I know if I go dark I will probably not like it, but Im not really digging the blonde anymore either. She did dark underneath this time, so maybe next time Ill add more dark. Who knows...Ugh. Why is a thing like hair so complicated? Ha!

Sunday afternoon we went to lunch with Great Grandma Vera and Aunt Cathy. Poor Uncle Larry had to work so we missed him. We ate at Bravo and it was really, really good. We tend to be Carrabba's snobs and only eat italian there, but Bravo's was very good.

After that we went to look for a new living room set. We only have one big couch right now and we are planning on putting it in the basement when we move and then get a new living room set. An actual couch, loveseat and chair. That way when company comes they no longer have to sit on the floor! Who knew picking out a living room set could be so hard. We want stylish yet comfortable and apparently that is very hard to find. This is the set we liked, even though I sort of think it looks like home theatre seating. (The seats recline and would be nice to curl up on and watch a movie). Anything that I thought looked adorable felt like I was sitting on plywood....

So that has pretty much summed up our weekend. I am hoping tomorrow we wake up feeling much, much better.

Oh! I think I mentioned before that Kensley's first birthday party will be Nemo themed. Well I was looking on Etsy (never a good thing!) and I found this adorable outfit. It is going to have her name on it and its going to be absolutely perfect for the party!

Too cute huh?!

T.G.I.F!

Since I have been in high school I have always worked a job that included working on the weekends. So whenever anyone would say thank goodness it's Friday I would always think, so what? Ive got to work all weekend! Now that I actually have weekends off, I truly understand that saying. This has been a long week and I am soo ready for a break.

Grandma Patti brought Kensley into the office today and we got to go have lunch together at Grinders. It was a nice break for me and I was grateful to see my little pumpkin during the day. Plus all of the ladies in the office just ate her up.

Tomorrow is a busy day. I need to go into the office at 9 to meet with some clients and then I need to be in Minerva by 11 to get my hair done. We will be booking it, but I think we will make it in time. Then we are spending the day with grandpa and grandma. It should be a fun day for us.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Today was a super slow day in our office. I think since it was a holiday no one thought we were open. After work Great Grandma Sally, Kensley and I went to Once Upon a Child to see if they had any good deals on summer clothes. We really lucked out. I got her three dressed, three pairs of shorts, two skirts and a onesie for only $11. I was quite proud of that.

Here is Kensley with Great Grandma Sally. I think this coat is one of the ugliest kids coats ever. I usually try not to wear it on her because she has an adorable pink furry coat, but Grandma Sally bought her this coat and insisted that she wear it. You can tell by the look on her face that Kensley agrees with me. Ha!

This week starts a really long week for Dave. He is either at work, school or clinicals until late every night this week. I think the earliest he will be home is 9, sometimes 11 and sometimes he wont be home at all if he works a 24 shift. I definitely get a sense of what its like to be a single mom and let me tell you, its exhausting! But we had a lot of fun tonight.

Bath time!

Here she is getting her hair blown dry with the hair dryer. You would think that she would absolutely hate this, but she gets all excited when I pull it out and sits just as happy as can be while I dry her hair! Such a diva huh?!

Weekend Update with Vanessa B

This weekend was a pretty good one. I spent Friday night after work at home with the hubby cuddling on the couch. Then Sat I went and in and worked till 12. Funny story- I had two clients come in and start a policy last week. Being the airhead that I am, I sent them home with all the necessary paperwork along with all the paperwork that I needed to keep in file at the office. So I made the trek to their house Sat to pick said paperwork up. They had the most adorable black lab puppy named louie. Here I am decked out in my adorable pink coat from VS and my fleece hat, scarf and glove set from old navy (You know, the one with the pom pom on the hat and all the fringe on the scarf?) and the dog is jumping up on me trying to eat the pom pom off my hat. Then he was trying to chew on my scarf like a chew toy and when I tried to get him to stop he only thought we were playing and kept yanking on it harder with his teeth. I tried putting them in my purse and he snatched them right up and was running all over the house with said scarf and hat. It made for quite an interesting visit and next time Ill leave the hat and scarf in the car. Plus I was covered in black dog hair. I forgot how much dogs shed.

Dave came with me to help take pictures of the house since he had boots on and I had heals on. Soo not appropriate for walking around a house in huge piles of snow. He had class off that morning because it was -3° outside! We stopped at Starbucks to get a coffee and then walked around Target. I got a tall nonfat white hot chocolate with no whip thinking I did myself a service getting a healthier drink. It was still almost 300 cals and 5 grams of fat! Ugh. I found the sweetest shoes for Kensley. They were only $2.50 too. Such a steal.

Saturday night I went out to eat at Chili's with my good friend Ryann (Dave had clinicals). Ryann is a girl I used to work with back in our Carrabba's days. She actually got me a job there before she even knew who I was! Dave worked with a girl who was friends with Ryann and she suggested to her that she help me get a job. Being the awesome girl that she was she recommended me to the boss even though she knew nothing about me! He was asking her how old I was and all this stuff and she was making it all up because she had no clue! Anyways, I got the job there and we quickly became great friends. I remember giving her relationship advice when she needed it and telling her that one day a great guy was going to come along. I was there the night she met her current bf (he djayed a wedding we were at) and they just bought a beautiful (Jealous!) home so I better be invited to that wedding! We had a great dinner and Kensley was really well behaved for not napping all day. The only bad thing was that it was a 25-30 minute wait when we got there and I had to hold Kensley the entire time. There was NOWHERE to sit and I stood holding her, her coat, hat, mittens, diaper bag and my purse for what seemed like an eternity. But it was worth it.

Here is a pic from Ryann and I back in the Carrabba's Days. Oh how I miss my long hair!

After dinner we headed over to Border's and I bought the book EAT THIS NOT THAT! Such a good book. It gives tons of suggestions on what to eat when eating out, what to buy at the grocery store and even what to eat to change your mood. I highly recommend it.

Sunday was pretty much a lazy day. Kensley and I stayed in our pj's all day and played on the floor and watched Nemo. Im sure I meant to clean the house but I just didnt feel like it. HA!

Here was Kensley all smiley after a nap :)

You cant tell in this picture, but I have some MAJOR dark roots right now. I cant wait to get my hair did this Saturday!

LOL This photo cracks me up. I was trying to get a cute photo of the two of us, but she is looking at me like, "What the heck are you doing mom?"

So that was my weekend. How was yours?

Checking in...

I have yet to write Kensley's 10 month letter. Im a terrible mother I know. But she is doing fabulous. We have stopped letting her nap passed 5 pm and we are giving her baths each night and using that lavander calming lotion and we havnt had any more problems with her not sleeping. Of course, since her tooth popped she may not be as irritated as she was before. She is now pulling up on everything and getting into everything and being such a naughty girl, but she is so stinking cute. I cant stay upset with her. Except she has started kicking and slapping at us when we do something she doesnt like. We definitely need to stop that pronto.

We have chosen the theme for her first birthday- Finding Nemo. She is completely mesmerized by that movie. I cant wait to see how it all turns out. She has a t shirt with her name and nemo on it, but I dont know if its going to fit her by her birthday...
