Just Add Butter

Me: Do you want me to make this flourless chocolate cake by Paula Deen?

Dave: Ooooh Yes! It looks delicious!

Me: Its chocolatey and fudgey and rich and moist!

Dave: YES! Let's make it now!

Me: Well, we cant make it RIGHT NOW, we dont have any of the ingredients.

Dave: You are such a tummy tease.

3 Balls

Dave found these balls at Target the other week for around $5 and because they are just like the balls in her Gymboree class we bought them for her as part of her Easter present. They have tiny little holes all over them and so they are very easy for her to fit her fingers into and hold onto. If you came over to our house, this is exactly what you would see. She walks circles around the living room holding on to three of these balls. If she falls down and needs to pull herself back up she does so continuing to hold onto the balls. She NEVER lets go of them. This afternoon I had to pry them from her fingers to get her to take a nap. Best $5 I think that we have spent so far...

Bentley

Here is my mom and dad's new puppy, Bentley. He is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Funny thing is, they called me on Saturday morning asking where they could find a dog breeder for a small dog. By that night they had found Bentley. They move pretty quickly. I have a sneaking suspicion that they bought this dog for Kensley. Kensley adores dogs and they entertain her for hours. She giggles so hard when they bark that she snorts. Plus I distinctly remember them saying no more dogs after they re-carpeted their whole house. What a grandparent will do for their grandchildren... But is he not just the sweetest thing?

Happy Easter!

I didnt post yesterday because can I tell you how exhausted I was yesterday? I went to bed at 9 pm. With the lights on in my bedroom because I was too tired to turn them off. I was THAT TIRED.

Dave worked all day yesterday so it was up to me to get Kensley up and fed and dressed in her Easter best and down to my parents, lunch at my parents pack everything up and get her up to his family's house by 4 for dinner and more festivities, then home, bath, book and bed. I am exhausted just thinking about it all over again!

We didn't have to be at my parents until noon so we had plenty of time to get ready and all that, and she slept for a half an hour on the way down to my parents. She got her Easter baskets and her fav thing in them was an Elmo toothbrush. She LOVES to brush her teeth and the fact that it had elmo on it was even better. She carried it around with her the entire day.

After we ate dinner we packed everything up and headed up to Dave's family. I figured since it was an hour drive she would fall asleep but she didnt. I knew that meant she was going to hit a wall while we were there and I couldnt have been more right. She opened up her baskets from Grandma Patti, Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Bill, Shane and Sarah, and one from Great Grandma Audrey and Great Grandpa Buddy. We pretty much ran out of the door so I didnt get to say goodbye, but we had a lovely Easter dinner.

Kensley was in bed by 7 and didnt make a peep after that. She was beyond exhausted and so was I. But it is important for me to have these memories of her with our families. Good or bad, this is why I do it instead of just keeping us holed up at home. I know some of you only see your families a few times a year and I am lucky that we live 30 minutes from each side.

But note to self- make sure Dave has next Easter off.

Here are the few pics I managed to get of punky in her dress with her Easter baskets. (She got 6 total Easter baskets yesterday full of books, snacks, bubbles, outfits, socks, shoes, candy, and the beloved toothbrush).

Look how much difference a year makes...

Hope you all had a fabulous Easter Sunday!

Daddy At Gymboree

I know I talk a lot about taking K to Gymboree, but hey, that is our life and what we are doing a lot of at the moment so oh well. Dave had yesterday off so we made it a family event and we all headed there for her class. Of course K had a blast with Daddy there. He is much stronger than I am and can lift her up onto the equipment over and over and it was a nice change for her I am sure. The funny thing was the other kids and how they reacted to having a Daddy at Gymboree. A lot of them stared, one little boy kept catching balls and then bringing them over to Dave to have, and one little girl kept crawling over and laying in his lap. She kept saying "HI, HI, HI" over and over to him. It occured to me that they probably dont get a lot of Daddy's at Gymboree.

This is in no way a jab at fathers, I know a lot probably work during the day and would love to come to a Gymboree class with their kids. It just made me stop and think how lucky I am, and how lucky Kensley is to have a daddy that not only has the day off to spend time with her, but that cant wait to take her to Gymboree. He looks forward to Gymboree. She is just one lucky girl and so am I.

So really this is just a shout out to the greatest Dad I know. The greatest hubby I know. We love and appreciate you. So so much.

I took K to Gymboree class the other day and within the first few minutes a little boy fell and was bleeding pretty badly. The mom couldnt stand the sight of all that blood and was really shaken up because her little boy was hurt (understandably!). I wasnt really trying to pay that much attention to everything going on and was just playing with Kensley when I saw the ambulance pull up. My first thought was, "Oh I need to call Dave". Dave works for that ambulance company and I was certain he had heard the call and was probably freaking out. Just then I saw him jump out of the ambulance and grab his chest and mouth "Oh Thank GOD You Are OK" He got the call! He didnt know if it was Kensley or me that had been hurt and had called my cell phone over and over trying to see if we were alright. My poor hubby. Thankfully, we were fine and the little boy was alright too. His bottom tooth cut his lip when he fell and he didnt need stitches. I am telling you, playing at Gymboree can be brutal!

Yesterday the weather was absolutely beautiful so after Kensley's nap we took her outside to play in the yard. Don't you just love her outfit? It was a gift from one of our best friends. I had almost bought it and then put it back and then they ended up getting it for K's birthday. They have good taste huh?!

Last night Great Grandma Audrey and Buddy watched Kensley for the first time while I was at work. I hear K was on her best behavior. I was told she didn't even put up a fight when they changed her diaper. I had to stop and think maybe they changed the wrong baby's diaper (or possibly Buddy's? ha!) because she NEVER lets us change her without putting up a fight. Like I said, she must have been on her best behavior for them ;) And I am glad she was.

Here are just a few pictures from yesterday as she played in the grass.

Hope you have a great weekend!
