Weekend at Grandma's

Saturday we bundled up (well, not really. Its been in the 60's all weekend. What is up with this weather?) and headed to grandma and papa's house.

(Believe me it is much more fun than Rowan's face lets on.)

We broke out the farm to play with.

And chased papa all over the house.

Uncle Colton helped us "fly".

I promise no roosters were killed in the making of this hat...

But mostly we got held and loved on, and isn't that the best reason to go to grandma and papa's?

Haircut and Trip to Grandma and Papa's

Yesterday Kensley got her hair cut for the second time. I can't believe I am saying this, but she did really well. She sat on my lap with minimal fussing and we were done in about 15 minutes. Luckily, I have a great hairdresser and she is so good with Kensley. We got a good amount cut off because her hair is shorter in the front than in the back so now it is a lot more even.

This is what it looked like before:

And here she is after is was cut:

After her hair cut we went and spent the day with my mom and dad. I love how when we pull in the driveway Kensley starts saying, "Papa! Papa! Where is he?" She definitely loves her Papa and Grandma. (It may have something to do with the amount of sugar they give here while we are there...) I think Rowan is starting to like it there too.

IMG_3805

Doesn't he look like L.L. Cool J here? Remember how he always used to wear one pant leg rolled up? No? Am I showing my age here? Don't answer that.

My dad actually held Rowan for a little bit! My dad is one of those guys that doesn't really like to hold little babies. He is afraid he will break them. But Rowan isn't exactly what you would call a "little" baby so I had to take their picture together!

Rowan is definitely spoiled. I don't think he gets put down the entire time he is there. Here is hanging out with Uncle Colton.

This weekend was pretty rough for me. What I thought was possibly the flu has turned out to be mastitis. I feel like I have been hit by a bus and then dragged under the wheel for a few miles. I started to get sick Friday night and today I still feel pretty bad. Luckily, I have been able to pump like crazy all weekend and have been alternating hot and cold presses and things seem to be getting a little better. Oh the joys of being a mom. Life doesn't stop because you are sick!

Christmas Cookies '09

Last Saturday we spent the day at my Grandma Sally's (or GiGi's as
Kensley would say) making Christmas cookies. This is an annual
tradition although now when I come to think of it I don't think I
participated last year for some reason or another. I think the
weather was bad or something. Anyway, this year Kensley got
to participate and she had a blast. Adding sprinkles to the cookies
was by far her favorite. She ate A LOT more than she put on the
cookies, but that is what sprinkles are for!

Here is my brother putting all those arm muscles to good use ;)

My Official Cookie Taster ;)

Spencer was ready to gobble up any cookie crumbs

Ready to get my sprinkle on!

It was so very neat to see how involved K got to be this year. Last
Christmas she was only 9 months old and just starting to crawl and
this year she is so much more interested in everything and she is such
an intelligent little girl. She has made this holiday so very special and I
can not wait to make even more Christmas memories with her this year
and all the many more to come!

Father's Day '09

I have to start my Father's Day post by pointing out my dad's huge Father's Day Fashion Don't. Socks with sandals??!! In June??!! Sometimes I am just so embarrassed to be your daughter. But he redeemed himself just a little by wearing the Ohio State shirt Colton bought him with the Cleveland Browns swimtrunks we bought him at the same time because he liked our gifts so much. Love ya Dad. And Kensley may or may not be wearing pajamas from the night before because her parents are just a tad too lazy to change her clothes. Anyways.

Father's Day was a good one. We spent the majority of the day at my mom and dad's. We ate delicious grilled food, swam in the pool (and K enjoyed it much more this time!), toasted marshmallows and ate s'mores and had a great time celebrating the men in our lives.

K really enjoyed the s'mores.

My brother and his gf Rachel spent the day with us as well. The look blindingly pale in this picture because they never come outdoors. They are usually always in the basement ignoring the rest of us ;)

Mom and Pops.

She now grabs your hand and makes you take her for walks all over. She walked circles around the yard for at least an hour.

Champion marshmallow toaster.

Just the three of us.

Daddy's girl

This was the view from the pool. A girl could get used to this!

I feel so blessed to be married to the man that I am. I knew when I met him that he was going to be an amazing dad and that was one of only a million reasons why I married him. Just watching him with K each and every day is a sight to see. He is soo good with her, he thinks about and misses her constantly and when she sees him her whole face lights up. I am glad that we have days like today, but I hope that he knows how much I appreciate him each and every day.
